When is it worth considering having your Skin Tags Removed?
Skin tags are extremely common and it is often said that everyone will develop a skin tag or two at some point in their life. The good news is, unlike warts, they are completely harmless so it is not necessary to your health to ever have them removed. Having said that, however, they can be extremely annoying depending on where they happen to be so many people do arrange for them to be taken off through a private doctor.

Does this imply that there’s no way you can have a Skin Tag removed on the NHS? That would be a correct assumption since the NHS draws a line at treatments for issues that are unlikely to affect the good health of their patients. Causing irritation or not looking attractive are not considered to be health issues at this moment in time!

So how do you tell the difference between a wart and a skin tag? This is an important question because warts are highly contagious and can spread to different parts of your body as well as to other people’s bodies! Skin tags tend to occur on folds of the skin, such as around eyelids, on the neck, under the armpits, in the groin area, and under breasts. This is because they develop where skin rubs against skin on a continual basis.

Also known as acrochordons, skin tags tend to hang off the skin in small, flesh coloured or brown growths. Warts alternatively tend to havea black point in the centre where the nerve tissue is located with scaley white or crème coloured scabs around it. Warts spread but skin tags don’t.

Some people can develop hundreds of skin tags around their body although most of us can find only a few as we get older. Diabetics and larger size people tend to have more than others as well as women who develop them in pregnancy because of changes in hormone levels. There are also those who just have an inherited tendency to produce them without there being any overarching purpose. Mostly they are just one of those things that we all have that we usually don’t pay much attention to because they don’t bother us at all.

Occasionally, though, they can appear on places where you just keep catching something on them. Perhaps you notice them on your neckline when a few spots of blood have appeared on your blouse after wearinga necklace for a while. Once you’ve done the noticing, of course, you start to feel self- conscious about it and find that whenever you weara necklace it always catches on your skin tag!

Then there’s that one on the armpit where you always catch your razor and make it bleed. Not forgetting around the eyelid that you try and cover in eye gloss but it never quite works how you want it to. Last but not least is the buttock area where your underclothing always seems to catch and lay a small trail of blood on the bed covers!

These are the times you wonder about removal and think how great it would be if you could just freeze them off once and for all. Which is exactly what is so easy to accomplish. Liquid Nitrogen, applied with a trained aesthetic surgeon’s precision, is an inexpensive and safe remedy that can be carried out in one session. Appointments can be booked at convenient times to fit in with your busy lifestyle without having to worry about recovery times.
